Three Day: Oman Highlights
Overview
If you only have a few days to visit Oman let us make your brief stay memorable. Also keep in mind that Oman's pristine beaches and world class hotels make it the perfect place to relax after you have been attending a conference or meetings in the region. Remember this is only a recommended or sample itinerary, so feel free to share your thoughts with us and we will create the ideal tour for you.
| Day One: Arrive Muscat Arrival at the Muscat International Airport with a "meet and greet" at the airport by our representative. (Most flights from North America arrive in the evening. If you have an earlier arrival we will be pleased to plan a more comprehensive day.) |
Day Two: Nizwa Full Day Tur to Nizwa, Bahla and Jabrin: We start with a spectacular drive through the Hajar Mountains via the oases of Fanjah and Birkat Al Mauz to reach Nizwa, the former political capital and the most important town in Oman's interior. We will first visit the 17th century Nizwa Fort with its underground Falaj (irrigation system) before strolling through the adjacent traditional souk, known for its authentic Bedouin silver jewellery, antique muskets and other wonderful treasures. We continue on to Tanuf to see the remains of the residence of Oman's last Imam (religious leader) before driving past the ancient settlement of Bahla with its famous 15th century fort currently receiving expert restoration at the hands of UNESCO. Upon reaching Jabrin we will visit one of the most beautiful castles in all of Oman. Also known as ‘Palace of Bilyaroub' this castle is well known for its wall and ceiling murals. | |
![]() | Day Three: Muscat Morning Half Day Muscat Sightseeing: Our tour begins by driving through the beautiful embassy quarter of Muscat en route to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque where we will visit this stunning example of unique Islamic architecture. Next we are on to Old Town where we proceed on foot, strolling around the Portuguese forts, Jalali, Mirani and Qasr Al Alam, as well as the Palace of HM Sultan Qaboos. Our next stop is the Bait Al Zubair Museum with its wealth of information and exhibits about the country's culture, tradition and heritage. We drive on to Muttrah, a delightful quarter of Muscat, where we visit the fish market, stroll along the Corniche (to admire the beautiful merchant houses) and experience shopping in its busy and world famous souk. |
